Sultan Sulaiman Club The Champion of FAM Cup 1982

     In the final match of FAM Cup 1982, Sultan Sulaiman Club and MARA Fc were destinied to meet each other. Both were strong teams. It was a great battle from both teams to win the championship title of FAM Cup 1982 and lift the FAM Cup trophy. Unfortunately, MARA Fc lost to Sultan Sulaiman Club with the scores of 2-0 after a long great battle. The two scores of Sultan Sulaiman Club came from Azlan Johar and Zapril Hashim. It was a great moment for Sultan Sulaiman Club to win this FAM Cup 1982 under the coaching of Abdul Ghani Minhat. Selangor In The 3rd Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1970

     In the 3rd Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1970, there were 7 clubs partipated from 7 countries played in this tournament. It was held in Tehran, Iran. There were two groups for these tournament. Group A consists of Taj Tehran (Iran), Homenetmen (Lebanon) and Selangor FA (Malaysia). Then in Group B consists of Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel), PSMS Medan (Indonesia), West Bengal (India) and Royal Thai Police FC (Thailand). In the first Selangor FA match, it lost to Taj Tehran with the scores 3-0. Then, on the second match, Selangor FA lost to Homenetmen with the scores of 4-2. Unfortunately, Selangor FA did not qualified for the semi-final round. Selangor FA players consists of M.Chandran, Foo Fook Chuan, Chinna Karuppan, Ibrahim Mydin, Dell Akbar, Sardar Khan, Wong Fook Yong, N. Thanabalan, Zulkifli Norbit, Wong Choon Wah and others. Selangor FA coach was E.C. Dutton and captained by Abdul Ghani Minhat. It was among the greatest achievement of Selangor FA in the Asian Champion Teams Tournament after its glorious achievement in 1967. We never forget !!!  Taj Tehran became the champion for this 3rd Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1970 after they defeat Hapoel Tel Aviv in the final match with the scores 2-1.

Malaysia Cup Final 1968

     In Malaysia Cup 1968, Selangor and Penang qualified to the final. It was held in Merdeka Stadium whereby Selangor defeating Penang with the big scores of 8-1. It was a tragic loss for Penang that loss with large amount of scores. Unbelievable, but its a reality and Selangor got the GREATEST TEAM in this final game coached by E.C. Dutton and captained by Abdullah Noordin. Among the scorers in this final game from Selangor team was N. Thanabalan and Zulkifli Norbit. N. Thanabalan made a record as the most scored number of goals in Malaysia Cup Final with 4 goals and his record still cant be betaen till today. It was a controversial match where everyone can't believe that Penang defeated to Selangor with the scores of 1-8 in this Malaysia Cup 1968 final. Whatever its is, Selangor was the GREATEST TEAM in 1968.

UMNO FC In Football

     Many of us only knew that UMNO was a political party since 1946, but only some of us knew that UMNO has its own football club and actively participated in the FAM Cup. UMNO FC reached its peak when they won the FAM Cup in 1974 but the last period they participated in the FAM Cup was unknown. Many famous Malaysian players played in UMNO FC such as Abdul Ghani Minhat, Sexton Lourdes, Abdullah Noordin, Zulkifli Norbit and many more. Below was some of the photo, medal and jersey of UMNO FC:-

Kedah 2003 Umbro Home Jersey

It was an UMBRO jersey. However, due to certain matters, the UMBRO logo was hidden under the Kedah Football Assoc. emblem. This Kedah 2003 Umbro Home Jersey was worn by Irwan Fadzli in the 2003 match. Pictures are below:-

Selangor In The 1st Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1967

     The 1st Asian Champion Teams Tournament was held from 6 May until 19 December 1967. It was founded by Asia Football Confederation (AFC). In this first tournament, the participated clubs were divided into two groups. Group A consists of Selangor FA (Malaysia), South China (Peaople's Republic of China), Korea Tungsten Company (South Korea) and Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel). Then, in Group B consists of Vietnam Customs (South Vietnam) and Bangkok Bank FC (Thailand). However, representative club from India and Iran withdrew from this championship. Korea Tungsten Company automatically qualified to the semi final. Hapoel Tel Aviv automatically qualify to the final. Selangor FA main players were Abdullah Yeop Noordin (captain), Chinna Karuppan, Abdul Ghani Minhat, M. Chandran, Sardar Khan, Hyder Khan, Zulkifli Norbit, Chow Kwai Lam, N. Thanabalan, Ibrahim Mydin, Foo Fook Chuan and Wong Fook Yong. The reserved players of Selangor FA were Agus Salim, Teh Cheng Lee, Chan Yong Cheong, Ong Kim Leng, Rozaini Nasrom, R. Gunaratnam, Singha Namasivayam and Azizi Mahmud. The coach for Selangor FA was E.C. Dutton. On 6 May 1967, Selangor FA draw with Vietnam Customs. Later on 3 June 1967 Selangor FA won 2-1 against Vietnam Customs. On the other match, on 18 May 1967, South China won against Bangkok Bank FC with a score 1-0. Then, on 27 May 1967, Bangkok Bank FC won against South China with the score 2-0.

     Selangor FA and Bangkok Bank FC qualified to the second round based on aggregate. In the second round, Selangor FA qualified to the semi final round after won against Bangkok Bank FC based on aggregate of 1-0 after won 1-0 in the first match and draw 0-0 in the second match.

     In the semi final, Selangor FA won against Korea Tungsten Company with the aggregate of 1-0 after draw 0-0 in the first semi final and won 1-0 in the second semi final. Selangor FA qualified to the final round against Hapoel Tel Aviv. The final game was held in Supachalasai Stadium, Bangkok in Thailand. Abdul Ghani Minhat scored the leading goal for Selangor FA. Later on, Danny Borsuk from Hapoel Tel Aviv scored an equalizer in the 70th minutes. Then, because of handball from Chow Kwai Lam of Selangor FA, Hapoel Tel Aviv scored a penalty through Yaakov Rachminovich. E.C. Dutton also has to replace Chow Kwai Lam with Singha Namasivayam after Abdullah Yeop Noordin as a captain got angered with Chow Kwai Lam mistakes on the field. Hapoel Tel Aviv lead by 2-1 scores until the final whistle and Selangor did not managed to lift the the Asian Champion Teams Tournament trophy in this 1st Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1967.

     Apart from winning the runners up medal by the Selangor FA players, the Hapoel Tel Aviv also gave to the Selangor FA players the Globus silver 925 ballpoint pen as a commemorative souvenir. In addition, Hapoel Tel Aviv also invited Selangor FA to play a friendly match in Israel. However, it did not happened because Malaysia did not has a diplomatic tie with Israel. This 1st Asian Champion Teams Tournament 1967 was the most memorable and best moment for Selangor FA in their international match achievement. We as the Selangor FA fans won't never forget this great match and the legend players behind the Selangor FA great team.

Malayan Estates Football Cup

     The Malayan Estates Football Cup competition was inaugurated in 1955 under the sponsorship of the United Planting Association of Malaya. This competition was open to estates football teams raised by estates within Malaya. The competition starts annually in August and matches between estates were arranged at district level in order to select the State champion by the following January. Inter-State matches were then played off and the final was usually held in the middle of the year.

     The Malayan Estates Football Cup was presented by Sir Donald MacGillivray, the last High Commissioner of the Federation of Malaya before Malaya gained its independence on 31 August 1957. Later the trophy was known as MacGillivray Trophy. Originally 86 estates from all over Malaya participated in the first year of this competition and its arose into 138 estates from all over Malaya during the 1962 season.

The finalist, on the left was Revertex Limited Estate of Johor and on the right was Changkat Kinding Estate of Perak .

     The Malayan Estates Football Cup 1963 final was played between Changkat Kinding Estate from Perak and Revertex Limited Estate from Johor at the Merdeka Stadium, Kuala Lumpur on Friday evening of 23 August 1963, resulting in a win for Changkat Kinding Estate. The honourable Minister of Agriculture & Cooperatives, Tan Sri Mohd Khir Johari, presented the MacGillivray Trophy to the winning team and medallions to all players that played in the final game.

     Below is the only recorded evidence of the champion teams for this competition that can be tracked and traced. The rest is history.

1956/1959 - Kuala Ketil Estate of Kedah.

1960          - Union Estate of Johor.

1961          - Siliau Estate of Negeri Sembilan.

1962          - Sri Gading Estate of Johor.

1963          - Changkat Kinding Estate of Perak.
