In Olympic Moscow 1980 Qualifier Round, Singapore was in the Group 3 together with Iran, People's Republic of China, North Korea, India and Sri Lanka. Singapore went to the final against Iran and played in the National Stadium of Singapore. However, Singapore lost 3-0 to Iran and did not qualify to go for Olympic Moscow 1980, the most controversial Olympic Games after Soviet Union try to invade Afghanistan.
